Jennifer Finney

Director of the Small Business Development Center

May 11, 2023 11:30 AM

Jennifer Finney believes that supporting small businesses is crucial to developing thriving communities. A former business owner, she is passionate about helping others realize the dream of small business ownership. As Director of the Small Business Development Center at Brazosport College, she and her team of business advisors work with aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners daily, helping each to start, grow and succeed.

Jennifer’s introduction to entrepreneurship started at the young age of 11 when she earned her first real paycheck working in her father’s restaurant. She and her husband owned and operated a lawn service for several years and were even clients of the Brazosport SBDC. Before joining the SBDC as a business advisor, she freelanced as an online coach and digital marketing strategist.

Jennifer earned a Master of Science in economic development and entrepreneurship from the University of Houston—Victoria and a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. She has an extensive professional background in community relations and corporate marketing across a wide range of industries. You can read her column in the Brazoria County Business Journal published by The Facts Newspaper each month.

She is active in professional, church, and community organizations, where she applies her skills as a mentor and public speaker. Jennifer lives in Lake Jackson with her husband, Marcus, their two middle schoolers, Eli and Aubin, and their pandemic rescue cat, Smokie.
